 Re: Discussion
I'm not sure that you are describing "libertarian tendencies." I realize that there is some diversity in libertarian thought, but from my experience, the biggest difference between a Libertarian and a Liberal is the belief that the free market is capable of making social and economic "policy" better than any government can. (That's probably not phrased very well, but I think my point gets through okay)

 Re: Discussion
You may be right. I'm still thinking about it. I need to get into a serious discussion about the differences between different political positions.

 Re: Discussion
Right BJK, I think Glenn Beck is a Libertarian, and he seems to definitely favor the free market over the government, although the government is the entity that will ultimately decide what is legal in the market, but since he's a conservative, he is never going to discourage the removal of the practice of corporations privately funding politicians. Damn the corporations of the free market to hell.
But anyways, about the legalization of weed, my opinion is...yes, but as others pointed out, with the same restrictions that are in place for our currently legal drugs.
If marijuana is made legal, the drug cartels that run Mexico might be put out of business, and it would be a definite boost to this country's economy right now.
Out of all of the currently illegal drugs, marijuana is the one that has the most right to be legalized, due to all of my aforementioned reasons, and the fact that it does less physical harm to the user's lungs than tobacco does. What's worse, lung cancer, or a memory problem? Tobacco and alcohol are the drugs that should be illegal in this country. How many people have o.d.'ed on weed? I think more people have o.d.'ed on water, actually.
